Why Record Expungement?
Expungements are filed for a variety of personal and professional reasons. Expungement are not merely given out to anyone. Having a prior charge successfully expunged proves to anyone viewing the record that you have learned from your experience and have lived a law-abiding life since your conviction.
In any area of your professional life, you can HONESTLY AND TRUTHFULLY tell your private employer that you have NOT been convicted of the crime in question. Better yet, if you have a criminal past and have had all your prior charges expunged, you can tell your private employer that YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN CONVICTED OF A CRIME.
It gets better…
California Labor Code §432.7 prevents employers from asking about any arrest that didn't result in a conviction.
An expungement will reflect that your conviction has been dismissed. An expunged record cannot be used by private employers as a basis to deny you employment.
Also, in the State of California, Government Employers (except for the police) and Licensing Agencies such as the Board of Nursing, Contracting, Department of Real Estate, will treat you the same as if you have never been convicted of a crime if your record has been expunged.
